Canada’s leaders in sustainable West Coast design and construction showcased their projects at the 2014 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence Awards (CARE Awards) on Friday, September 26 at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

Forty-eight awards were presented at the CARE Awards attended by 220 builders, renovators, designers, trades, suppliers – members of the Victoria Residential Builders Association (VRBA).

“Windjammer” by Terry Johal Developments Ltd was the big winner capturing six Gold CARE Awards including Project of the Year and People’s Choice Award.

Other multiple winners were Città Group, Coast Prestige Homes, Jason Good Custom Cabinets, Jenny Martin Design, GT Mann Contracting Ltd, Maximilian Huxley Construction Ltd, Metropolitan Capital Partners, NZ Builders Ltd, The Sky is the Limit Design, Verity Construction, and West Coast Contemporary Homes.

“Congratulations to all of the Gold winners and Finalists for demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship and environmental sustainability,” says Wilf Gorter, Chair of the CARE Awards.

Green Builder of the Year – Large Volume was awarded to Verity Construction and Green Builder of the Year – Small Volume was won by NZ Builders Ltd. Lifetime Achievement Award went to Gordon English, Genco Construction Ltd for industry leadership and advocacy of builder education and training standards. Bill Patterson, Città Group won the Bill Wansbrough Memorial Award for leading and promoting sustainable building practices. The Building Better Futures Award was captured by Matt Peulen, Metropolitan Capital Partners. Herman Rebneris Student Carpentry Award was won by Brandon Graham and Best Apprentice went to Michael Barrodale. Each student receives $500 to further their education.
